Amplifying Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Management with Global Perspective’s Latest DEI Report
We're delighted to share our DEI report based on the learnings from the recent Driving Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Management: Leadership Stories event.
The DEI report, written by Global Perspectives, outlines key insights, recommendations, and next steps for fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in the corporate environment. It includes a detailed overview of:
· The current situation for female managers in Japan
· The specific factors that have enabled diverse leaders to flourish
· Tools and strategies to reinforce these success factors within your organization, teams, and personal development
The report builds on insights gleaned during the second collaborative DEI event developed as a joint effort between Global Perspectives, Maersk, and the Swedish Chamber of Commerce Japan and the Danish Chamber of Commerce Japan.
The event, held on May 11th at the Embassy of Sweden, kicked off with an intimate "Fireside Chat", followed by a comprehensive panel discussion, the event featured experts from the Scandinavian and Japanese business community.
The fireside chat included Tomomi Katayama from Olympus, Noriko Okazaki from Novo Nordisk Pharma, and Shigefumi Yamaura from H&M, and the excellent moderation of Siweon Carrie Park from Maersk. The ensuing conversations delved into women's success in Japanese management roles, with participants working in unison to brainstorm practical solutions.
Our panellists enriched the event with their compelling leadership narratives from both Scandinavian and Japanese business landscapes. Their stories served as inspiration and provided valuable lessons for all attendees.
Following the fireside chat, participants collaborated in groups on exploring specific success factors for diversity in management. Their discussions and work included recommendations for tools, strategies and actions that companies, leaders, teams and individuals can take to support and promote diversity in management.
The report contains the combined insights and recommendations from both the fireside chat and subsequent group collaborations. It offers a spotlight on barriers, highlights enablers, and delivers actionable insights to help both companies and individuals refine their DEI strategies, particularly aiming at promoting diversity in managerial roles.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the panellists and all the participants who contributed to the event's success at the Swedish Embassy in Tokyo.
For those who are championing similar conversations within their organizations, this report can serve as a valuable resource to guide and enrich your discussions.
