Event Report: Driving DEI in Management #3
On 28th Feb 2024 around 60 participants and 4 top-notch speakers from a diverse range of industries and backgrounds joined us at the beautiful Volvo Studio Tokyo to explore the collective wisdom, experience and energy gathered in the room and identify opportunities to accelerate action towards true DEI success.
For many companies, increasing the number of women in management roles is a high priority. However, targets that are realistic in Europe and elsewhere can be tough to reach in the Japanese market.
Finding answers to questions like how to increase the number of women in management, how to best create a support network for women in management – especially early in their management journey – and more remains elusive.
Based on a deep, shared desire to create positive change, Global Perspectives and Maersk, together with our collaborators created the Driving DEI in Management series in 2022 to explore and encourage strategies and initiatives aimed at promoting diversity in managerial roles, with a focus on enabling and supporting more women in management.
The theme of this third event in the series was Success stories: Case studies showcasing how Scandinavian and Japanese companies are driving progress in increasing the numbers of women in management in Japan.
The event provided a lively and engaging platform for learning from and with peers, highlighting DEI barriers and enablers and delivering actionable insights to help both companies and individuals refine their DEI strategies and initiatives.
Key insights from the speakers and output from the group discussions have been captured in the event report. Our guest speakers in this event were:
Naomi Fudo, Managing Director, Volvo Car Japan (opening speech)
Toru Nishiyama, Managing Director & President, North-East Asia, at A.P. Moller–Maersk Korea & Japan
Miho Takiguchi, I&D, Organisation Development Lead, AstraZeneca
Momo Miyazaki, Enterprise Solutions Account Executive, Meltwater
Yuko Seki, Partner and Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer, Ridgelinez
The Driving DEI in Management series is supported by Maersk and backed by the SCCJ, DCCJ, NCCJ, and this session was hosted by Volvo Car Japan.
